It is still a painful date for his family, but also for his many fans. On December 5, 2017, six years ago to the day, Johnny Hallyday, the French rock legend, after an intense battle with lung cancer, died at the age of 74. A death with significant repercussions in the lives of those close to him, who, for the most part, never fail, during this sad commemoration, to pay tribute to their husband, father, or even friend. His widow, Laeticia Hallyday, opened the ball, by sharing two publications on her Instagram account, a photo where she appears in the company of her husband, as well as a video where she pays tribute to his grave. In the caption, Jade and Joy’s mother wrote: “Six years already… and we miss you more than words because they will never be strong enough to express this still strong pain of your absence […] you are never far away, you watch, you protect us. We love you forever“.
Very quickly, she was also followed by the singer’s son, David Hallyday, who, for his part, wanted to pay tribute to his father through a story on his Instagram account. Accompanied by a photo dating from the 80s-90s, where the two men appear side by side and smilingthe Taulier turned towards his son with a proud look, David Hallyday, who was also able to count in his life on his father-in-law Tony Scotti, wrote a single sentence, but which expresses all the intensity of the lack that he feels in the absence of his father: “You are no longer where you were, but you are everywhere, where I am…”. A few simple words which express all the pain felt by someone who, upon losing their father, went through a very difficult mourning.

But those close to the interpreterLight the fire are not the only ones to want to pay tribute to the rocker. Many personalities or even institutions wish to salute the memory of the artist and honor him on the occasion of the commemoration. Thus, the city of Fréjus recently announced, in collaboration with the biker club, HDC Desperados, created by Johnny Hallyday himself, that it wanted create a monument in tribute to the singer. The singer’s former record labels, for their part, also took the opportunity to release new tracks by Johnny Hallyday, recorded before his death but which have not never been broadcast before. A kind of unexpected gift that his fans will most likely appreciate.
