3 years after Adieu les idiots, Albert Dupontel returns with an 8th feature film: Second Tour! As its title suggests, the plot of this new film takes place in the world of politics, situating its action between two rounds of an election, in this case presidential.

Three protagonists are at the heart of this new story born from the imagination of Albert Dupontel: Pierre-Henry Mercier (Albert Dupontel), presidential candidate, heir to a powerful French family and novice in politics, Mlle Pove (Cécile de France), disgraced political journalist, and his cameraman sidekick Gus (Nicolas Marié). The tandem will follow in the footsteps of this candidate, in an investigation that is as astonishing as it is exhilarating.

If Nicolas Marié is a faithful follower of the world of Albert Dupontel, Cécile de France is, for her part, a newcomer to the filmmaker’s family of actors, who has, in the past, notably summoned Sandrine Kiberlain (9 months farm) and more recently Virginie Efira (Goodbye idiots). For the record, this previous feature film, released in the context of the Covid crisis, had gathered more than 2 million spectators, and received a shower of Caesars, precisely 7 in number. A ceremony to which the filmmaker never goes, and here is the explanation.

Second Tour is presented as “a political fable with a thriller dimension“, as Albert Dupontel explained during an interview. His desire is “to talk about the people who govern us and who are incapable of recognizing their mistakes“, he added in another interview some time ago. Second Tour will be released in cinemas on October 25.
