No, we are not coming to you with any insurance contracts now. But there are things that are really best taken care of right away. Let’s start with the most important point:

by Marie Stadler

1. Eat gingerbread

Yeah, it’s completely against the trend, because of course it’s a lot hipper to get upset about the Christmas cookies after the summer vacation. But true professionals know: gingerbread is never finer than in September. Most of the Christmas biscuits are produced in summer, so the goods are particularly fresh in September.

2. Clean the windows

We hope you didn’t bother too much in the summer … because even if you can see the stains on the windows much better than usual, especially on hot summer days, cleaning is not really worth it. The windshield dries too quickly and this leaves unsightly streaks. A cloudy late summer day is much more suitable. Because you don’t freeze to death at the window, but at least you get a good result. Even better: have it cleaned. Great punishment for teenagers and men.

3. Go to the sea

The North and Baltic Seas are disgusting in wind and weather? Please don’t let any coastal child hear that. The German beaches are particularly beautiful in September!

4. Shop for Christmas presents

Because it’s not that full, because you don’t have so many issues in December all at once, because there is still what you want, because the delivery times are completely crumbling and because it feels pretty casual, on December 23rd laughing at the crazy people in the endless queues at Douglas and Co, to whom one usually belongs.

5. Plant crocuses

Serious? Serious! And when it is on the green strip of the traffic lights. In the spring you will be so happy about every blob of paint on your way to work … Be sure to check beforehand where this is legal. In a pinch, you can plant a balcony tub.

6. Cancel your gym contract

At least, if you are one of the filmmakers … Without being clairvoyant, we just guess that the contract was a good resolution and was signed in January. Then it is high time to quit the fun. Insider tip: No, you won’t be going there more next year.

7. Harvest apples at an apple farm

Nothing tastes better than an apple straight from the tree. There are a lot of fruit farms where people with a sweet tooth are allowed to harvest themselves, including small refreshments in between. In September / beginning of October, particularly delicious apple varieties are ripe, for example the sweet and sour Elstar or Jonagold and Jonagored. Yummy!
