As it slowly approaches its second birthday, Valve’s Steam Deck is increasingly being left behind by competing machines. AYANEO’s KUN confirms this.
Up to 64GB RAM and 4TB SSD
It is to believe that the walls have ears: in the wake of the latest information published by Windows Report about the Levono Legion Go, it is AYANEO which takes stock of its new machine.
The KUN has already been mentioned several times, but the information of the day is more complete and more interesting than the previous ones. Nothing surprising in that, since it is for AYANEO to “launch” its machine. Throwing is in quotation marks, because the word must not have the same meaning in our latitudes.
In terms of launch, AYANEO is “simply” announcing the start of its Indiegogo fundraising campaign, which will therefore begin on September 5 and will allow, as always with AYANEO, to afford the console at a significantly more advantageous price. .
There is one, or rather four tariffs, depending on the version of the KUN chosen. It ranges from $1,209 in 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD all the way up to $1,949 in 64GB RAM + 4TB SSD. Yes, you read that right: AYANEO offers a 64 GB RAM and 4 TB SSD version!
These are the prices launch officials communicated by AYANEO, but on Indiegogo, there is talk of reduced prices (from 1,129 to 1,809 dollars) and even early bird prices (from 999 to 1,699 dollars).
A maximum TDP of 54 watts
Suffice to say that with such pricing, AYANEO does not really have the right to make mistakes, but, at least on paper, the KUN has assets to put forward. We have already mentioned the question of its RAM ranging from 16 to 64 GB, or the SSD which can be a 512 GB model, or 1, 2 or 4 TB. Note that like most “small” companies, AYANEO does not has no access to AMD’s Z1 and must turn to the very close Ryzen 7 7840U.
AYANEO insists on the possibility of very simply adjusting the TDP of the AMD chip from 15 watts to a mind-blowing maximum of 54 watts. The Ryzen 7 7840U will be able to express its full potential, but a high-level cooling solution will have to be put in place. AYANEO gives some figures to try to reassure us. However, we prefer to judge on parts, even if the 84.1 ° C mentioned in 54 watts are impressive.

Of course, the company also insists on its high capacity battery integrated into the KUN: a monster of 75 Wh (19,500 mAh) which should allow it to last just under 50 minutes. The game in 15 watts remains recommended on battery, and AYANEO evokes here an autonomy of more than 3 hours. Not bad, although, again, we’d rather wait to see what it looks like in our own tests before getting excited.
Finally, AYANEO emphasizes the screen of its console. Lenovo has just hit hard with its Legion Go, and the KUN is finally a little less well equipped on its display part. We still have a huge 8.4-inch IPS panel capable of displaying 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, but we won’t know more for the moment. AYANEO prefers to insist on its Hall effect controllers which always have their little “effect”, no pun intended.
We are at the heart of the PC handheld console war. Not sure that all the companies involved come out unscathed.
