It took Norwegian alpinist Kristin Harila just 92 days to scale the world’s 14 highest mountains. Is your 8000 record hunt insane or a feat?

After attempts that had already failed, Kristin Harila was able to scale all eight-thousander peaks on earth on her most recent expedition. There are 14 of them. The 37-year-old Norwegian mastered her outrageous mission in the amazing record time of 92 days.

In just 3 months and 1 day, Harila almost pulverized the record that had been surpassed. The previous all-time best of 189 days was able to halve the Scandinavian-Sami extreme mountaineer and former cross-country skier in one fell swoop.

When assessing performance, a deep ditch opens up

Despite its undoubtedly undisputed sporting value, the par force performance should be enjoyed with reservations:

  • So Harila was “only” on the known normal routes.
  • She had a substantial crew of Sherpas behind her.
  • She also operated with fixed ropes, oxygen bottles and helicopters.

Accordingly, the value of their extraordinary achievement divides the observers into two camps. Above all, the mountain romantics are left behind. You can find out more about the problem in the audio contribution embedded above.
