An unknown man explained that he was just looking for a hotel after being barked at by an 82-year-old’s dog on her property in Wilhering (Upper Austria). The pensioner later discovered that two gold chains were missing and several drawers had been opened.
An 82-year-old woman only briefly left her house in Wilhering on Monday afternoon, leaving the front door open. Apparently a brazen thief took advantage of this. When the resident returned, her dog barked at an unknown man who was on the property. He explained that he was looking for a hotel – and then ran away. According to the police, the 82-year-old then discovered that two gold chains were missing and that several drawers had been opened. Search without success A search for the still unknown perpetrator, which was immediately launched, was initially unsuccessful. The sneak-in theft was discovered by the victim’s 54-year-old neighbor called the police at around 12:30 p.m.
