The DB Navigator is currently the most downloaded app in the CHIP download range. Reason: the federal government’s planned 9-euro monthly ticket, with which everyone can travel by bus and train at extremely low prices for three months from June. Why you should download the app too.
For those who travel a lot by train, the DB Navigator app has long been a must-have on the smartphone. Here you can plan routes, buy tickets and call up information about disruptions, timetable changes and delays.
But that’s not usually enough for a top spot in the CHIP download charts. The DB Navigator is currently the most downloaded app in the last week. So what is the reason behind the sudden popularity of the DB Navigator app?
DB Navigator suddenly more popular than ever
The DB Navigator is currently number 1 in the CHIP download charts and there is a simple reason for this: From June to August, public transport can be used nationwide for 9 euros a month. The so-called 9-euro ticket should in all probability then be available in the DB Navigator app. So if you want to benefit from the offer, you have to become active and then buy it in the app.
Where can the 9 euro ticket be bought?
The 9-euro ticket should be available via the DB Navigator app, ticket machines and the customer center.
Where is the 9 euro ticket valid?
The ticket is valid for regional traffic, but not for long-distance traffic of Deutsche Bahn – i.e. not for ICE, IC or EC.
When is the 9 euro ticket valid?
The 9 euro ticket is offered in June, July and August. It is valid until the end of the month in which it was purchased. The monthly ticket is not automatically extended.
What happens to an existing subscription?
According to the VDV, there should be a “loyalty bonus” for subscribers to monthly tickets, for example. Subscribers should not have to worry about anything. The 9-euro monthly ticket is to be offset – via a reduction in direct debit or a refund.
schedule and funding
The federal government had agreed to cover the costs of the 9-euro monthly ticket of 2.5 billion euros. According to the VDV, the money must be with the companies and associations via the countries before the start. An amendment to the regionalization law is necessary, on the basis of which regionalization funds are paid by the federal government to the states to finance local rail passenger transport.
In addition, the Bundestag and Bundesrat still have to agree by May 20th. The ticket should be available in the DB Navigator app by the end of May at the latest.
