They were all nervous. Anna Buchegger’s finale of the ORF casting show Starmania on Friday didn’t have every note either, but the Salzburg woman improved from round to round and was as happy as she was humble in the end: “We candidates never had this idea of competition and always applauded each other. In the end, the music won. ”
The 22-year-old opened the show with slight uncertainties about the Prince title “Kiss”. According to her own assessment, Anna had interpreted the song a little better a few laps earlier. It continued with “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo and the realization: The student from Abtenau is not a rapper. But she knocked out the demanding key points with such irresistible energy and voice that after the telephone voting only one competitor remained.
At the end of the last round, in which Anna accompanied herself on the piano with the self-composed ballad “Ease”, the TV audience was in charge again. It made the Salzburg woman the overall winner of “Starmania 2021” ahead of the Styrian Fred Owusu.
