Sony WF-1000XM5: a leak reveals the characteristics of the Japanese group’s next wireless headphones

Shared by The Walkman Blog, the leak reveals the design and some features of Sony’s upcoming wireless headphones. This also portends an upcoming official announcement and release of the WF-1000XM5s.

The images from the leak show a reworked design that gives pride of place to curves. From the photos of the upcoming Sony WF-1000XM5s, it looks like they are more compact than their predecessors. A screenshot from an Amazon listing almost confirms this hypothesis, arguing a weight of only 3.9 g per earphone, 1.4 g less than the 1000XM4, the same for the charging box which is displays at 39 g and loses 2 g compared to its predecessor. Comfort should largely benefit from this slimming cure.

This same screenshot reveals an unchanged autonomy, going up to 24 hours of listening, but a faster recharge, allowing to regain 1 hour of music for only 3 min of charge, against 5 min previously. Obviously, all features such as Qi wireless charging, multipoint connection, USB-C port, LDAC support or port detection are included.

We are waiting for an official release soon and will not fail to keep you informed, before these high-end headphones make their traditional passage through our test laboratories.
