On Saturday evening, car victims kept the German police on their toes. The first deployment of the security forces took place around 8.15 p.m. in a parking lot in Singen.
Around 300 vehicles had gathered there with camping equipment, barbecue and shishas. Also included: many cars with Swiss license plates.
Autoposer move on
After the officials arrived, the autoposer party initially broke up. However, the caravan then moved on to nearby Stockach, as was the case with the Eastern Switzerland news portal FM1 Today reported.
There the group – now only consisting of 100 cars – then blocked Industriestrasse and caused a traffic jam on the autobahn. Some sections became so congested that the police had to divert traffic.
Numerous residents complained
From 11 p.m. the trouble for the police continued, but now in the Constance city area. There the car posers gathered in the university parking lot, later they were spread over different parts of the city.
This in turn led to traffic jams – but above all to angry residents: “There were numerous calls in which complaints about noise and driving behavior were expressed,” reports the Constance police.
After midnight, calm slowly returned: the majority of the cars had then returned across the border to Switzerland.
Lots of offenses, hardly any fines
There were hardly any buses: “Less than ten drivers were fined for violating the corona and road traffic regulations,” the police told FM1 Today.
“The fact that there were so few is not because there were no more violations,” it continues. However, due to the size of the autoposer group, punishment was difficult for the police. (une)
