In The Idea of Being With You, Prime Video’s latest romcom, Nicholas Galitzine plays a successful pop singer. But is it really him who sings?
After several months of teasing and unanimous feedback from the press, Prime Video has finally put The Idea of You online, its romantic comedy with Anne Hathaway.
In this film, she plays Solène, a 40-year-old single mother who begins an unexpected romance with Hayes Campbell, 24, the singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. But her superstar status soon poses inevitable challenges to their relationship, and Solène soon discovers that life in Hayes’ spotlight might be more than she bargained for.

Intensive training
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard the 29-year-old actor’s pretty voice. In 2021, he was one of the headliners in the musical Cinderella with Camila Cabello (again for Prime) in which he played the Prince.
But for The Idea of Being with You, it wasn’t just about covering pre-existing titles. The producers called on Savan Kotecha, a songwriter known in the industry as a “hit maker.” He has notably written songs for One Direction, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Ellie Goulding.
Five songs were written for the fictional group August Moon, like “Closer”, which Hayes performed for Solène at Coachella just after their meeting. They can all be listened to on Youtube and streaming platforms like Spotify.
To prepare for the film, director Michael Showalter asked the five members of the boyband to participate in intensive training lasting several weeks, in order to learn the choreography, the lyrics and build bonds with each other.
This is how Raymond Cham Jr. (Oliver), Jaiden Anthony (Adrian), Viktor White (Simon), Dakota Adan (Rory) and Nicholas Galitzine spent a month under the supervision of Frankie Pine, a music supervisor who also worked on Daisy Jones & The Six.
