His father died after suffering from Parkinson’s disease

Robert Downey Jr. mourns his father: Robert Downey Sr. died at the age of 85 of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Actor Robert Downey Jr. (56) has said goodbye to his father Robert Downey Sr. (1936-2021). The actor confirmed on Instagram that his father died at the age of 85 after suffering from Parkinson’s disease. “Last night dad fell asleep peacefully after enduring the perils of Parkinson’s disease for years,” writes Downey Jr. to an old black and white photo of his father.
Previously, Rosemary Rogers, the wife of Robert Downey Sr., had her husband’s death on Wednesday (July 7th) in New York the daily newspaper “Daily News” confirmed. “According to my stepmother’s calculations, they were happily married for a little over 2,000 years. Rosemary Rogers-Downey, you are an angel and our thoughts and prayers are with you,” Downey Jr. finishes his post.
Robert Downey Sr. was born in New York City in 1936. At the age of 22 he entered the film industry and tried his hand at writing and directing for a long time. In 1969 he celebrated his first success with “Putney Swope”. Works like “Babo 73” or “Greaser’s Palace” followed. As an actor he appeared in 1985 in “To Live and Die in LA”, 1997 in “Boogie Nights” and 2011 in “Tower Heist”. Robert Downey Jr. is from his marriage to Elsie Downey (1934-2014), which lasted from 1962 to 1982. From her daughter Allyson Downey (57) was born. He was married to Laura Ernst from 1991 until her death in 1994. His third wife, author Rosemary Rogers, married Robert Downey Sr. in 1998.
