The Bucharest court has decided to continue the trial of Andrew Tate.
The controversial internet personality was indicted alongside his brother Tristan Tate in June 2023 on charges of human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.
As it was announced on Friday, the official criminal trial against Andrew Tate can begin. Previously, the case was in the antechamber of the Bucharest court. The antechamber had to examine files and evidence to ensure legality.
Tate’s representatives said no trial date has been set. They would appeal the decision. The brothers were in police custody during the investigation from late December 2022 to April 2023 to prevent them from fleeing the country. Afterwards they were under house arrest. They are now allowed to move freely as long as they do not leave Romania.
In March 2024, a Romanian court granted a request from Great Britain to extradite the Tate brothers. But only after Romania put them on trial.
