Vitesse beat Nijmegen 1-0 away in a hard-fought game. After the final whistle, the Vitesse team went to the numerous visiting fans to celebrate this victory with them. When the fans start to jump up and down in time, it happens: The grandstand can’t withstand the pressure, all of a sudden it collapses.
A closer look at the video shows that the fans are extremely lucky. Under the tiers there is a metal container, which probably prevents the audience from falling further down. As confirmed by the Dutch media, nobody is injured in the action. The fans get away with the horror.
Wilco van Schaik, manager of the home team, is shocked after the incident: “Oh, my God! I’m really glad nothing worse happened.
