Child abducted near Lens: Hamza’s father heard by the prosecutor

L’hearing will perhaps allow to answer the questions of the authorities on the reasons of the kidnapping. On Monday, December 20, the father of little Hamza is to be presented to the Béthune prosecutor, the prosecution said. The man had abducted his 12-year-old son from the home of his maternal assistant, Friday, December 17, in Fouquières-lès-Lens, in Pas-de-Calais. The plan “alert – kidnapping” had been triggered early in the morning of Saturday, before being woken up a few hours later after the discovery of the child at his aunt’s house.

“The very conditions in which the father took his child led the prosecution to consider his removal at the end of his custody,” said the prosecutor of Béthune in a statement. The child had been placed with a maternal assistant as part of the separation of his parents, on the decision of December 14 of a children’s judge, considering “a danger to the health, safety or education of the child. », Details the parquet floor.

Sharp tensions between parents

A kidnapping alert was triggered Saturday morning by the Ministry of the Interior, after the father, contacted by his son, presented himself Friday evening to the maternal assistant to remove the latter, without violence. The child had been found safe and sound on Saturday morning. “From the investigation, it follows that tensions have arisen between the parents, divorced, concerning Hamza”, indicates the prosecution, mentioning “reciprocal complaints” since the summer.

In August, the father and his son “had been prevented by the Belgian authorities from boarding for the United Arab Emirates, where the family had lived in the past and where the father had settled again”, following ‘mother’s opposition to leaving the country. At the beginning of September, the father had not handed over the child to his mother after “his right of visitation and accommodation”. “He then began a three-month journey of wandering through France with the child,” explains the prosecution, which had decided on the provisional placement of Hamza in early December. The investigation started following Friday’s kidnapping led justice to note “the reiteration of the facts, in defiance of a court decision” and to consider prosecution.
