  • A woman complains to Coop about employees who drive the bus without a mask.

  • The woman is pilloried internally at Coop – and criticized by the employees.

  • Disciplinary measures are now being examined at Coop.

Saskia M. * is from Eastern Switzerland and works in the healthcare sector and is responsible, among other things, for the care of corona patients. On her way to work, she takes a bus past the Coop logistics center in Gossau SG every day. She repeatedly noticed people in Coop uniforms who weren’t wearing a mask – and she pointed out the problematic situation to them. “Maybe I’ll be looking after you in a few days,” she said to an employee who then apparently threatened her, as the newspapers from “CH Media” write.

“I saw countless corona patients die”

For Saskia M. it is getting too much and she writes to Coop directly on Twitter: “I have seen countless people die in the last 20 months. I have no understanding for Coop employees who do not wear a mask. Please take responsibility as a company. ” Soon afterwards, the Coop believes that their complaint has been forwarded internally. But nothing happens.

And suddenly they speak to the Coop employees on the bus. Someone should refer to her as the Ms. M. who teased the employees and made them bad. A man called her a “slut”, she says. The man did not wear a mask either, M. told the newspaper. She feels increasingly uncomfortable on her way to work and apparently hears people whispering things about her over and over again.

In the pillory internally

What M. does not yet know at this point: Your complaint was forwarded internally, but not in the way you wanted it to be. Instead of responding to your request, an unknown person printed out your comments and hung them up in the Coop logistics center – without comment. Your personal data was not made illegible.

“Behavior will not be tolerated”

At Coop they are now apologizing. Coop spokeswoman Rebecca Veiga states that such behavior is in no way tolerated at Coop. “We will hold the affected employees accountable and examine possible consequences, including disciplinary measures. In addition, internal processes for passing on information are clearly communicated again, ”it continues.
