Prodiges 2021: who won season 8 hosted by Faustine Bollaert?

After two weeks of competition, Wonders, the France 2 musical competition, hosted by Faustine Bollaert, has just crowned its eighth winner. It is…

Ten small “prodigies” of classical music were still in the running, during the final broadcast this Thursday, December 30, 2021, on France 2. An evening hosted once again by Faustine Bollaert, now at the head of the musical competition, and judged by Marie-Claude Pietragalla, present since the fifth season, Gautier Capuçon (juror since the debut of the program in 2014), as well as Gaëlle Arquez, the mezzo-soprano singer who took her first steps in Wonders on the occasion of this salvo.

Ten participants in the final

Among the various participants (15 candidates presented themselves during the semi-final of Thursday, December 23, 2021), we found in particular in the “singing” category: Anjali (14 years old), Maxence (16 years old) and Toni (16 years old) . In the “instruments” category, four artists were still in the running: Simon (16 years old, clarinet), Paolo (classical guitar), Lucie (9 years old, piano) and Maria (13 years old, accordion). We remember that last week Gautier Capuçon managed to qualify as one more Prodigy. Finally, in the “dance” category, the last three candidates were: Chloé (15 years old), Maëlyne (11 years old) and Benjamin (16 years old).

And the 8th winner of Prodiges is …

During the evening, viewers were able to find Isabelle, winner of the seventh season of Wonders in 2020, but also, the sisters Camille and Julie Berthollet, came to perform an extract from their last album entitled “Séries” (Camille had won the very first season of Wonders in 2014). Towards the end of the show, the three jurors chose the winners of each category: Anjali won in singing, Maëlyne in dance, while Simon won the instruments category.

At the end of the race, it was Simon who ended up winning Wonders 2021. He thus becomes the second clarinetist to win the show, after Marin in 2016. He leaves with a scholarship in the amount of 10,000 euros and also hopes to be able to record an album. Currently in 1st overall, he will be celebrating his 17th birthday next February.
