TEST Monster Hunter Rise: what is this PC edition worth?

March 2021, gamers around the world could experience a whole new Monster hunter on the beautiful Switch of Nintendo, Rise, a title that had known how to amuse us as it should. Capcom made the decision, a few months later, to bring this adventure to PC. A production that hums on the computer? This is the question we asked ourselves, it is time to answer it. First of all, know that we will not come back to this odyssey and the great subtleties of gameplay (you have our full test linked at the end), but we only look at the othernesses.

Adjustments to this version are more than welcome.

Let’s talk little, talk well and get straight to the point: the visual part. By going to the options, we noticed that the parameters are very limited. We can therefore select a “low, normal, or high” rendering, change the resolution, frequency and aspect ratio. And ? That’s all. No, it is not possible to manage shadows and other elements on the screen. Enough to cringe the teeth of small configurations? Well no. And for good reason, Monster Hunter Rise is absolutely not greedy and runs perfectly with a “small” PC gaming ; at the same time, remember that this is a simple basic Switch game.

So, and if you have a suitable screen, you can display 4K to have a clean rendering that is pleasing to the eye. The textures are clean, well detailed, and thealiasing has disappeared. Regarding the number of frames per second, damn it, what it’s nice to have a framerate constant. The game is fluid and the 60 fps (or more) bring significant comfort to our getaway. Speaking of positive, the 21: 9 is part of the game. The image is therefore larger and is much more legible, especially during clashes. ; note that you can switch to this format even if you have a 16: 9 screen.

And the gameplay In all of this ? The grip with a keyboard and a mouse is not at all tight. Movements are made with ease using the classic “Z, Q, S, D” and the camera can be controlled with the mouse. The famous grapple, which allows us to reach certain platforms or move quickly, is initiated by combining the scroll and a click of the mouse. Simple and efficient. A drop-down menu can be displayed with “Esc” where we can navigate easily using our pointer and keys. AT and E. In other words, everything is well thought out and arranged. Only small black point on the board, it is impossible to modify anything in the parameters. So we have some predefined commands, period. In addition, be aware that you can plug in a controller, it will be detected automatically.

Monster hunter rise isn’t a big visual slap, but the tweaks to this version are more than welcome. The multiplayer is, of course, always in the game, and it is even possible to use a voice chat to communicate quickly. Despite somewhat skinny parameters, the title is well optimized for our babies. The experience is intact, so what more could you ask for? If you don’t have a Switch and want to experience this somewhat supercharged part, you know what you have to do.

Monster Hunter Rise is available on Gamesplanet at € 47.99 instead of € 59.99 .
