For almost two years now, SNK has been gradually re-publishing the catalog of its Neo-Geo Pocket Color on the Nintendo Switch eShop. After releasing a boxed version of the first Switch ports of these titles last summer, the Japanese publisher is starting 2022 by offering a new title on Nintendo’s virtual store.
Another game from the Neo-Geo Pocket Color catalog has just arrived on the Nintendo Switch eShop. This title is SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash originally released in 1999. As the title of the game indicates, it is here a question of combats by interposed cards.
On Switch, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash brings together SNK and Capcom versions of the original Neo-Geo Pocket Color game. At the time, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash functioned much like a Pokémon RPG. Cards were specific to one or the other of the two versions.
And it was possible to face and exchange cards with another owner of Neo-Geo Pocket Color. This Switch version does not however allow two consoles to be connected and two to play.
Two games in one
To compensate a little for this lack, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash on Switch allows a player to trade between the SNK and Capcom versions present in this port. As well as playing against his ghost.
Each user of this Switch port can switch from the Capcom version to the SNK version at will. The same goes for the Japanese and “international. “Each version has its own backups, however.
The Switch saves Neo-Geo Pocket fans
In total, SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash allows you to collect virtually 300 cards. This includes maps “character“as well as maps”action. “Obviously, the characters in question here are from famous SNK and Capcom licenses.
Note for nostalgics, retrogamers, curious and collectors that getting this Switch version in English is much more reasonable than buying the original American version of SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash. In addition to being relatively rare, the latter is now extremely expensive.
It will indeed cost several hundred euros to get a complete Neo-Geo Pocket Color copy. Knowing that SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighter’s Clash costs only 7.99 euros on Switch, the compromise can be interesting.
