Crumbling rock – Feistritzklamm: Road closed until Thursday

A rock on the Feistritzklamm (L 409) between Stubenberg and Feistritztal has to be removed so that no chunks fall onto the road. Traffic will be diverted.

The road should be open again by Thursday afternoon at the latest. “In order to prevent boulders from falling onto the L 409, the rock and trees have been removed since today. The necessary total closure will remain in place until Thursday afternoon at the latest. We are currently reckoning with total costs of around 80,000 euros,” says traffic officer Anton Lang. Marc-André Rapp, geologist at the road maintenance service, explains the exact procedure: “Only after the rock has been removed can it be assessed whether and which rock stabilization measures are necessary. For this work, however, one lane remains open with alternating stops.”
