Prince William: He believes in Prince George to be a football player

In the podcast by ex-kicker Peter Couch, Prince William tells about his son's football skills and how he became a fan himself.

Prince William (38) was a guest on the podcast of the former English professional footballer and cult kicker Peter Couch (39). The Royal and President of the Football Association revealed, among other things, how good his son's football skills are.

How did he experience the lockdown?

He spent the time of the corona-related lockdown together with his wife, Duchess Kate (38), and the three children together, Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (5) and Prince Louis (2), in the country estate of Notes Hall. Above all, he was involved in homeschooling and children's entertainment.

"I found it pretty tiring to keep the kids busy and interested in some kind of work," he admitted. He found that he had much less patience than he thought. "That was probably my most important finding." But: "My wife is very patient," Prince William continued. He also found that he had difficulty with second-class math.

He also played football with his two sons. When asked about Prince George's talent in the podcast, Prince William says he can imagine Prince George becoming "Aston Villa's top scorer".

How did Prince William become a football fan?

Prince William himself is a fan of the Aston Villa professional football club from the Aston district of Birmingham. He fell in love with the club when he was eleven years old during his first trip to the Aston Villa game against Bolton Wanderers. At the time, he "desperately" didn't want to "support someone like Manchester United or Chelsea" – like everyone else at school. "I really felt connected to the club," he said. And since he became a father, football "has undoubtedly become much more important than before".

Football tweets on the official account?

Prince William would also like to express his joy about winning a game via Twitter. But he shouldn't. "You deliberately keep me away from it." In May 2019, he simply posted after the Champions League semi-final match between Liverpool and Barcelona a tweet anyway: "Well done Liverpool – an incredible result, what a comeback! W", was the royal storm of enthusiasm.

He missed soccer

During the Corona break, William missed the professional soccer games. "I tried to pretend I didn't care that it wasn't there," he said. "But at the end of the third weekend I really missed him. It just belongs to the weekend," said Prince William.
