Barack Obama announced on Sunday March 13 on his Twitter page that he had tested positive for Covid-19. The former president of the United States nevertheless wanted to reassure about his state of health, indicating that he had mild symptoms.
“I have just tested positive for Covid,” he said on his Twitter account. “I had a rough throat for a few days, but otherwise I feel fine.” His wife Michelle Obama received a negative test, he said.
“Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and to have received a booster dose,” added the former Democratic president. Barack Obama took the opportunity to remind the population of the importance of getting vaccinated, “even if the cases drop” in the country.
I just tested positive for COVID. I’ve had a scratchy throat for a couple days, but am feeling fine otherwise. Michelle and I are grateful to be vaccinated and boosted, and she has tested negative.
It’s a reminder to get vaccinated if you haven’t already, even as cases go down.

Easing of recommendations on wearing a mask in the United States
The American health authorities largely relaxed their recommendations at the end of February on wearing a mask, which is no longer compulsory indoors for the majority of inhabitants, as well as in many schools.
The number of contaminations detected at Covid-19 has indeed dropped drastically in the United States in recent weeks, with around 40,000 daily cases in recent days, against up to 700,000 at the peak of the Omicron wave, in mid-January. The number of deaths is also falling.
