Lena Dunham: She talks about her bad Covid 19 illness

Lena Dunham spoke in an Instagram post about the symptoms of her Covid 19 disease. She wants to shake people up.

Lena Dunham (34, "Girls") spoke about her Covid 19 disease in a long Instagram message. With the post, which she comments with "My Covid Story", the actress wants to shake up, given the "many people who do not comply with the social distancing rules, go jogging without a mask or share parties on Instagram".

In mid-March she was tested positive, Dunham wrote in her post, to which she had also added a selfie of her own with a mask. Her body suddenly rebelled. "The nerves in my feet were burning and the muscles no longer seemed to be doing their job. My hands were numb and I was sensitive to loud noises." She also lost her sense of taste and smell and suffered from a strong cough, throbbing headache, difficulty breathing and red rash. According to Dunham, symptoms continued for 21 days that felt "like a rave gone wrong".

It suffers from long-term consequences

After a month she was tested negative for the virus, but was still struggling with the after effects of the disease, such as arthritis, swollen hands and feet, and a constant migraine. Even as a person who has a chronic illness – Dunham suffers from endometriosis – she has never felt this way, Dunham continues. "The doctors don't yet know why my body reacted like this or what my recovery will look like." She knew that she was lucky and blessed with great friends and family, good health care and a flexible job. "Many are not so lucky. I want to hug them all."
