Amazon Music Unlimited: Higher prices for Prime members
Soon also in Germany?
Instead of the previous $7.99, Amazon’s music streaming service will cost $8.99 per month in the future.
Prime customers in the US and UK will soon have to pay more for Amazon Music Unlimited. COMPUTER BILD reveals what this means for local users of the music streaming service.
Bad news for all Prime customers with an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription: the mail order company will increase the prices for its music streaming service on May 5, 2022. The company points this out on an FAQ page, as reported by The Verge. According to this, customers in the USA and Great Britain with an active Prime membership will in future pay 8.99 instead of 7.99 US dollars or pounds sterling for Amazon Music Unlimited – the equivalent of around 1 euro more. Anyone who has opted for an annual subscription to the music streaming service also has to put more on the table: 89 instead of the previous 79 US dollars or pounds sterling – the surcharge is the equivalent of around 10 euros.

Amazon Music Unlimited for Echo also more expensive
Apart from the increase for Prime subscribers, Amazon is also raising the price of the so-called “Amazon Music Unlimited for Echo” subscription. Although this does not require a Prime subscription, the service can only be used with a single Echo device in the household and only by voice command. Even if the price of the service increases from May 5, 2022 from 3.99 to 4.99 US dollars or pounds sterling, the subscription version is still significantly cheaper than the conventional Amazon Music Unlimited without functional restrictions.

No price increase in Germany for the time being
However, there is no price increase for customers who book Amazon Music Unlimited without a Prime subscription. As before, you have to pay 9.99 US dollars or pounds sterling per month. The fees for users in Germany also remain unchanged – at 7.99 euros per month: As Amazon informed golem.de on request, “German subscribers are currently not affected by price increases”. However, it is currently not possible to say how long this will remain the case.
