Interpreter of Sofia in Tomorrow belongs to us, Emma Smet had to be tricky to be able to cry in front of the cameras… The actress chose a radical technique.
Not everyone can cry on command… Even actors! So sometimes, actors have to use stratagems and give of themselves. Emma Smet will find it difficult to say the opposite. Interpreter of Sofia since July 2019 in Tomorrow belongs to us, the young woman is passionate about her job. “Expressing grief, rage, emotions I’m not comfortable with has always appealed to me”she confides in the columns of Paris Match, this Thursday, April 14. But for this first role, Emma Smet had to put in place a radical and formidable technique to succeed… in crying! “The first time I cried in front of a camera, I had drawn on painful memories. Never again! The state of sadness persists too much”, she recalled. And to add: “The next time, I preferred to put a finger in my eye”.
And her talents as an actress have seduced viewers and professionals alike. Because in addition to Tomorrow belongs to us, the young woman recently played in a play, the game of truth, written by Philippe Lellouche. “The day before (the premiere, editor’s note), I tried not to think about it but it didn’t work, I spent a sleepless night. The same evening, we met, we danced to evacuate the stressI said a little prayer and I startedtold us the young actress. Unlike my partners, I have twenty minutes to wait before going on stage, I’m on the side, I watch them while torturing my stress ball. And I keep a lucky gold coin on me.” A new challenge for which she was helped by her mother, Estelle Lefébure.
Emma Smet, a “sparkling” “warrior”
“She shared some breathing tips, for example, and advised me not to look at the public. Which is really good advice, Emma Smet told Télé 7 Jours. JI think she especially wanted me to experience it alone and discover things for myself. After TV and theatre, Emma Smet will go into the cinema since she plays in Segpas by Ali and Hakim Bougheraba, in theaters on April 20. “We started by filming the final scene. It was difficult to play, with a range of different emotions to express. explained the directors to Paris Match. She was sparkling like a little sun. But beware, Emma is also a warrior.” A great career awaits!
