SEGA and Paramount are reportedly working on a film adaptation of the license Streets of Rage. To adapt the beat them all to the four opuses, the creator of the saga John Wick would be involved in the script.

The production company dj2 Entertainment, already involved in many video game adaptations, still seems to be in the game.

Video games take over the streets

The recent success in the cinema of video game adaptations seems unsurprisingly not to calm the appetite of the studios. After sonic 2 in particular, Paramount and SEGA would like to continue to bring cult licenses to the big screen. According to the sources of Deadlineit will soon be the turn of Streets of Rage.

Launched in 1991 and returned to prominence in 2020 with the acclaimed Streets of Rage 4, the license offering beat them all type fights would have even already found someone to write the script for its cinema version. This is Derek Kolstad, creator of the action saga John Wick and screenwriter of the action film nobody. A logical choice therefore, while the production should be ensured by dj2 Entertainment (sonic and the future adaptation of It Takes Two) and Escape Artists (The Equalizer).

It remains of course to confirm all that, or to find a director commensurate with the project and a convincing cast.
