After a visit to Grünheide: Confusion about corona tests at Elon Musk

Tesla boss Musk is tested both positive and negative for Corona. The 49-year-old visited Brandenburg just last week.

After his lightning visit to Germany, it is unclear whether Tesla boss Elon Musk was infected with the corona virus. The 49-year-old wrote on Twitter that he had been tested for the virus four times. "Two tests were negative, two were positive". The same nurse and the same test were used, Musk said.

However, the tweet also shows that the CEO has relied on a rapid antigen test from the US manufacturer Becton Dickinson. Antigen tests are not considered to be as reliable as the usual PCR tests, but they are often cheaper and faster. Lufthansa is currently testing antigen tests on some connections to Germany. They are also used in old people's and nursing homes.

Musk landed last week in his private jet at BER Airport to visit the car factory construction site. There he also had a few job interviews with engineers. Tesla wants to start producing electric cars in Grünheide from next summer. Initially, 12,000 employees are planned for the factory.

As the "Tagesspiegel" reports, Musk also met Brandenburg's Minister of Economic Affairs, Jörg Steinbach, for a two-hour conversation in a construction container on the Tesla site during the flying visit. At the request of the newspaper, Steinbach gave the all-clear. He was tested negative on Tuesday, said the SPD politician.

Musk later shared on Twitter that he had symptoms of a typical cold. Because of the inconsistent findings, he had undergone a PCR test. He expects a result in 24 hours.
