“We were warned during the night that a man had beaten his wife, who was injured in the head and was bleeding,” Angers public prosecutor Eric Bouillard told AFP, confirming information from Ouest-France.

“He then decided to kill himself, got out of the car and crossed the road where he was hit by light vehicles and a heavy truck,” he added. An investigation has been opened for violence with a weapon by a spouse. “The woman was hospitalized, she must be operated on. Her days are not in danger,” said the prosecutor.
According to Bison Futé, the accident occurred at 4:30 a.m. and a school bus notably hit the pedestrian. The accident led to the closure of the motorway in the Le Mans-Angers direction. The lanes reopened at 8:30 a.m.
