The number of fatalities reported in a school in Izhevsk, Russia, rose to 13 on Monday, according to the responsible investigative authority. Seven children and seven adults, including teachers and security forces, are among the dead. The authority also spoke of 21 injuries, including 14 children and 6 adults.
Aleksandr Brechalov has to report that several people died after a shot at a school in Izhevsk.
Izhevsk is the capital of the Udmurt Republic of the Russian Federation and is located almost 1000 kilometers east of the capital Moscow. Aleksandr Brechalov, governor of Udmurtia, said shortly after the crime: “In Udmurtia today there was a tragedy in Izhevsk at school 88. An unidentified person broke into the school and killed a guard, that’s already known”.
The perpetrator killed himself, according to the region’s interior ministry. There was initially no information about the background to the crime.
