Takeover of SFR: Altice receives a new fine of 75 million euros

Eight years after the takeover of SFR for more than 13 billion euros, the bill will increase further for Altice. Indeed, the Competition Authority has decided to crack down once again, after a fine of 40 million euros imposed in 2017 on the group of Patrick Drahi in the context of the takeover of SFR by Numericable, which has since become Altice. The new fine amounts to 75 million euros.

Five years ago, the company was penalized for not having respected the commitments made to the Autorité de la concurrence, including the respect of a co-investment agreement between SFR and Bouygues Telecom concerning the deployment of the fiber in very dense areas. This first fine was accompanied by injunctions to be implemented, which was not done in the eyes of the regulator.
