The Weeknd is planning a "respectful" Super Bowl halftime show. The artist has now revealed in advance what viewers can look forward to.

The countdown for The Weeknd (30, "In Your Eyes") is on. On Sunday, the artist will perform during the 20-minute half-time of the Super Bowl LV. There will be no show in the middle of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. The native Canadian now revealed this in a press conference. Instead, a large part of his appearance will take place in the stands. "We use the field too, but we wanted to do something we've never done before," he said. In addition, one does not want to jeopardize "the safety of players and workers" in times of the pandemic.

Sports presenter Kay Adams (34) later asked again in a separate interview. She asked the artist about planned surprises such as guest appearances by other music stars. The Weeknd's response: "I've read a lot of rumors, but I wouldn't bet on them." Then it became more specific. Since there is "no space" for further acts in the story that he wants to bring to the stage with his performance, there will be "no special guests" either.

Super Bowl appearance with a bandaged face?

The Weeknd had recently caused a sensation in past appearances by entering the stage with a bandaged face. As he himself had stated, he wanted to showcase the "absurd" culture of Hollywood. The musician will probably not present a similar look in the NFL final of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The artist said, "I definitely want to be respectful of the audience at home." Although he says he will continue to tell the story and wants to "incorporate something from the storyline", he "definitely" wants to make his show family-friendly.
