Ahsoka: all about the Star Wars series with Rosario Dawson

Ahsoka will be released on Disney+ in 2023. The Star Wars series will feature Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader.

How to subscribe to Disney+ to watch Star Wars series

Disney+ is available in France:

On May 9, 2022, filming of the new series began Star Wars centered on Ahsoka Tano. A year later, where are we? Except for a twist, it is in 2023 that it must be released in streaming.

When is Ahsoka coming out?

2023. We don’t have a more precise date to give: neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have indicated when the series will be available for streaming. One Lead: Season 3 of The Mandalorian comes out on March 1. We can guess that the production will wait for the end of the broadcast (which will last eight weeks) before moving on to the sequel. Maybe a release in May? Or this summer? The schedule is loaded.

Who is Ahsoka?

Ahsoka Tano is a major character in Star Wars, although he does not appear in the films at all. This is a former knight, who became a survivor after the purge launched by Emperor Palpatine to end the Jedi Order. She was at the heart of the Clone Wars. She’s not human: she’s a Togruta, which explains the amazing appendages around her face.

Crucially, she was an apprentice of Anakin Skywalker.

What will the series tell?

Given the announced characters, the assumption is that the story will take place at the time of star wars rebels, that is to say between episodes III and IV of the Star Wars films. By then, the Galactic Empire is in place, the Rebel Alliance is doing its best to overthrow the dictatorial regime, the Jedi have been exterminated, and Anakin Skywalker has become Darth Vader.

When was this adaptation announced?

It was in mid-December 2020 that Lucasfilm announced this project, among others. It was promised jumble the return of Hayden Christensen in Darth Vader to face Obi-Wan in his series, the release date ofAndor (season one is a little gem and we are waiting for season 2 with total impatience), a film on Rogue Squadron and many other things.

Where to see the Ahsoka series?

It will be on Disney+. The entertainment giant has owned the Star Wars license since 2012, after the rights were sold by former owner George Lucas. Of course, the company favors its own subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) platform. If you have a subscription pack including Disney+ via MyCanal, you can also take advantage of it.

What cast and what characters?

Obviously, there will be Ahsoka Tano. This character is embodied on screen by American actress Rosario Dawson, who we saw in Sin City or Death Boulevard, as well as in a few series produced by Netflix in the Marvel universe. You have already seen her in the guise of Ahsoka Tano if you watched season 2 of The Mandalorian.

Two other characters from the series star wars rebels are announced: Sabine Wren, who will be played the Australian Natasha Liu Bordizzo, and Ezra Bridger, whose role has been entrusted to the American Eman Esfandi. Sabine Wren is a weapons specialist. Ezra, he has the ability to be relatively sensitive to the Force. He has already met Ahsoka in Rebels. And she owes him a lot.

But above all, we are waiting for Hayden Christensen. The Canadian actor, who has played Anakin Skywalker since 2005, but also Darth Vader, is present in the casting. His bond with Ahsoka is strong: he was her former master. Will he appear in the memories of the jedi? Will he already be in Darth Vader? Will they be side by side in an adventure where they were not yet separated by war?

A few other names have also been mentioned, without it being known yet for which roles. There’s Ray Stevenson to play an antagonist and Mary Elizabeth Winstead for an undisclosed character.

How many episodes are planned?

The format chosen for Ahsoka seems to be that of a mini-series of a few episodes. Maybe six, as for Obi-Wan Kenobi. In any case, it shouldn’t be much more: the other series of the license have seven (The Boba Fett Book) or eight (The Mandalorian).

Where have we seen this character before?

Absent from the films, Ahsoka Tano appears on the other hand in many other works. She made her debut in the animated feature film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, then in the series of the same name. She also appears in the series Rebels. His appearance in live-action works began with The Mandalorian and The Boba Fett Book.

Will there be a season 2 in Ahsoka?

Nothing of the sort has been announced. One of the keys for the future will be the reception of the first episodes.
