She was last seen on New Year’s Eve, leaving the nightclub. In fact, the young woman was in the company of two friends: a man and a woman. All three were drunk and tried to get into Cosmo, a nightclub located near Docks Vauban. After this failure, the small group decides to continue the evening at Maéva, which is about twenty minutes away on foot.
“The three disagreed on which route to take to get home, so they split up,” says Christophe, Maéva’s brother. Then, “Arriving in front of her house around 3:30 a.m., the two friends call Maéva. She tells them that she is not far away.” But Maéva still not arriving at her destination, they try to call her again before getting her answering machine. The disappearance of Maéva Dubois was therefore reported to the police around 5 a.m.

Disturbing disappearance: investigators incomprehension
According to Christophe’s information, Maéva’s phone continued to be blocked until 6 a.m., “in a direction completely opposite to her home, which suggests that she continued to move.” And according to information from Parisian, Maéva’s phone was actually located by investigators for the last time at 5:57 a.m., rue Marais, 3 kilometers from the nightclub and 2 kilometers from her home. An itinerary which seems incoherent since it is further away than the young woman’s home.
A witness thinks he saw her around 4 a.m. on rue Amerigo-Vespucci, a street in the port area close to many basins. “The more hours pass, the more we move towards the scenario where Maéva would have had an accident… Did she fall into the water, Did she fall asleep somewhere due to fatigue, did she have a bad encounter?”asks his brother. An investigation into a disturbing disappearance has been opened this Monday, January 1, by the public prosecutor Bruno Dieudonné. For now, “no track is favored at this time, neither the accidental track nor the criminal track”, indicates a police source. His family is very worried.
