On Christmas Day, this little boy had to have emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction. The doctors are stunned by what they find in her belly.
A real surprise on this Christmas day, relayed this Wednesday by the New York Post*… A first for these flabbergasted doctors, who discovered an electric toothbrush in the intestines of a 9-year-old boy. This episode took place in Mecca after the young child accidentally swallowed the head of his toothbrush.
He was then rushed to the hospital where he passed a battery of X-rays which made it possible to highlight the toothbrush, stuck at the level of the stomach. The device thus positioned risked causing a fatal intestinal obstruction in the little boy if it was not removed as soon as possible. It is the partial or complete blockage of the small intestine or colon, preventing food, gases and liquids from flowing.

A successful intervention
In the end, all’s well that ends well and it was after a 20-minute operation that the surgeons overcame this unfortunate incident and removed, via an endoscope, the head of the toothbrush ingested earlier by the young boy. The latter has now returned home and is recovering from his operation at his own pace. A most amazing story for the doctors who treated him and which they will surely remember all their lives…
