Rockstar Games is already anticipating the launch of GTA 6 with a choice that will cost some players dearly, and which will greatly displease the Grand Theft Auto community.
GTA 6 is on everyone’s lips, but players around the world must be patient. The next episode of Rockstar Games’ cult saga will not be released before 2025, probably in the fall like other opuses of the license, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. In the meantime, the studio has secretly made a change for a new feature that appeared in March 2022 on current generation consoles.
An unpopular decision before the launch of GTA 6
For analyst Mat Piscatella, GTA 6 will surely be the biggest game of all time in terms of scale and impact in the video game industry. We’ll see what happens, but it’s true that the fervor around the game is greater than ever. The title showed almost nothing, but the first speech allowed Rockstar Games to explode all records. The time to communicate real information, to release a new trailer or even gameplay, has not yet come, but R* made a change before the release of GTA 6.
Indeed, in complete discretion, the studio has increased the price of its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S GTA+ subscription. What does it allow? Obtain several big advantages for Grand Theft Auto Online. This formula gives all subscribers 500,000 GTA$, plus 1,000,000 each month between April and August 2024, access to the Progen Itali GTB vehicle, in-game promotions, real estate benefits, outfits, patterns and customization elements, bonuses to boost GTA$ and RP gains.
Until now, you had to pay €5.99 per month, but like EA Play, PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass, the bill has climbed. The GTA+ subscription has quietly increased from €5.99 per month to €7.99 per month on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games has not given any explanation, but the studio perhaps sees this as an opportunity to further replenish the coffers ahead of GTA 6. A game which, unless there is an absolutely huge surprise, will not be included in this subscription.
A price increase for Grand Theft Auto Plus
For the moment, the games playable for free with GTA+, in addition to the advantages linked to Grand Theft Auto Online, are mostly quite old titles. Here is the list of software offered with the GTA Plus:

Will GTA 6 ever be added to this subscription? Never say never obviously, but if this episode follows in the footsteps of its predecessor, we’re not about to see it any time soon. We remind you that Grand Theft Auto 5 is close to 200 million copies sold, and Take-Two Interactive certainly wants to reproduce this incredible feat.
