KYIV, Nov 4 (Reuters) – Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to U.S. President Joe Biden, said during a visit to Kyiv on Friday that U.S. support for Ukraine would remain “unwavering and unwavering” after the midterm elections in the United States, which will take place on Tuesday.
“We fully intend to ensure that the resources will be there as needed and that we will have the voices of both sides to make this happen,” Jake Sullivan told reporters.
Some elected officials or officials of the Republican Party have come out in favor of a reduction in American aid to Ukraine if their camp regains the majority in Congress after the November 8 election. Last month, Kevin McCarthy, leader of the elected Republicans in the House of Representatives, ruled that America should not “sign a blank check” to Ukraine.
But Jake Sullivan, who met with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky and his chief of staff Andriy Yermak on Friday, said Joe Biden was committed to bipartisan cooperation “in all scenarios” to ensure continued aid. economic, humanitarian and security.
“I am confident that (..) American support for Ukraine will be unwavering and unwavering, and I don’t say that lightly,” he said.
A few hours later, the Pentagon announced additional military aid of 400 million dollars (404 million euros) to Kyiv.
