Good news for Samsung fans, the Korean giant is planning to use an improved battery in its next flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra. We can expect an increase in capacity and a more powerful recharge.
Samsung’s top-of-the-line Galaxy’s have had to make do with charging capped at just 45W for years now, as Chinese rivals battle to offer the fastest charging possible. After the Galaxy S20 Ultra in 2020, Samsung even limited the battery of the Galaxy S21 Ultra to only 25W.
After years of stagnating at less than 45W, Samsung is reportedly finally readying a fast-charging improvement on the next generation. If we believe the information of the leaker RGcloudS on Twitter, the Galaxy S24 Ultra should for the first time offer 65W charging. That’s still a far cry from its rivals, who will mostly benefit from a battery that accepts more than 100W, but it’s still a welcome improvement.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra will benefit from an even larger battery
RGcloudS does not just announce the arrival of a 65W fast recharge, since it also announces that the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra will be equipped with a 5000 mAh (rated) battery. This is therefore not only a nice increase for the Galaxy S24+, but also for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. As a reminder, the Galaxy S23 Ultra offered a 4855 mAh (rated) and 5000 mAh (nominal) battery. We should therefore see an increase in autonomy on both models.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra’s battery is also expected to be the first to use stacking technology. Stacked cell batteries are widely used in electric carsbut they should finally arrive on our smartphones.
The stacking process offers several advantages over the winding process used by battery manufacturers. The stacking method can notably increase the energy density by more than 10%, allowing businesses to increase battery capacity without adding bulk or bulk. The batteries are also more protected against explosions. Thanks to this new technology, Samsung should slightly catch up on the batteries used by Chinese smartphones, which are for the most part much more advanced.
