In short, the future of the game looks bright, but some players are worried . Indeed, a leak has just set fire to the powder on the Web. Fans are already expressing their displeasure and concern.
Diablo 4 causes controversy following a leak
During the event dedicated to the studio’s games, Diablo 4 made a rather notable appearance. We mentioned the new season, but the Vessel of Hatred DLC also got its share of the pie. That said, we didn’t have much to declare other than its release date set for 2024, without further details. And besides, how much will this extension cost? This is the question asked by many players, and we may have the beginnings of an answer. This is precisely what is causing the controversy.
A Youtuber came to explain in detail the leak which has just hit the fourth opus of the Diablo license. The leak concerns a survey developed by Blizzard for the price to be put on its future DLCs. The publisher offered four options to players surveyed for charging for its expansion: $50, $70, $80, and $100. It could be expensive, very expensive, especially for an extension. Each of them would offer different benefits, including platinum coins to purchase unique skins. Unfortunately, it doesn’t stop there.
These options would also offer advantages in terms of Diablo 4 gameplay. For example, there would be a major difference between the $50 option and the $100 option. The first would grant a unique item, while the second would unlock a legendary aspect. Consequently, we would be more tempted to vote for the more expensive offer, and that clearly does not please the community who compares it to pay-to-win (pay to win). That said, it is only under study at this stage and the final decision will certainly depend on the responses of those surveyed. That and the feedback from all the players since the survey was leaked. The feedback being mostly negative, the publisher could just as easily review its plans so as not to compromise Diablo 4 again.
