Are you waiting for Silent Hill 2 Remake? U.S. too. But rather than sharing the release date, Konami is making a big announcement for the future of the cult horror license.
Are we witnessing the true rebirth of Silent Hill? Given the number of projects under development, yes, but it’s off to a bad start. We will return to this in due time, but the famous interactive series Silent Ascension is causing an uproar on the Web. Between the economic system which pushes you to liquidate your bank account – it reminds us of (Metal Gear) Survive – the infernal interface or even the chat management, it’s a rout. Worst case scenario, the servers will shut down sooner than expected, and Konami has plenty of other stuff in stock anyway.
New remakes of Silent Hill games, anyone?
Putting aside Hideo Kojima’s cult PT demo, which was a teaser for his aborted Silent Hills, the Silent Hill franchise had been gathering dust for over 10 years. Then after persistent rumors, Konami unpacked its bag with the announcement of four games. The highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake, the interactive series Ascension, SH Townfall which should also free itself from the codes of the saga, and finally a final, completely new title which will take place outside the United States for the first time, Silent Hill F .
All the games mentioned have been officially presented and in the case of Ascension, it is even already available (on the web or mobile). But surprise, the Japanese publisher has in mind to produce other remakes of the horror license. “We are working diligently on Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater […] as well as remakes and new games in the Silent Hill series, which enjoys popularity in the psychological horror genre ». After SH2 Remake, does Konami intend to revisit the PS1 opus, and therefore go back even further, or to continue with Silent Hill 3 and 4? The statement did not provide further details.
And where is the PS5 version of the second episode?
Before starting other remakes, Silent Hill 2 Remake should already be released on PS5. And for the moment, the game has not given any sign of life for several months. It is already known that it will not be available in 2023, even if some fans believed it for a moment because of an ad spotted on Steam. The famous Amazon reseller is adding a layer and recently posted a profile of the title online, as seen by leaker The Snitch. An imminent announcement? Perhaps, but above all it allows the giant to collect pre-orders. The reveal of the release date at the Game Awards 2023, on the night of December 7 to 8, 2023, cannot be ruled out, but still avoid getting hyper 100%.
During a previous interview, producer Motoi Okamoto also teased a fairly rich future for Silent Hill.
We have announced a number of new titles in addition to this remake. I knew from the start of the project that a single remake would not be enough for players to consider it a rebirth of the series. Some projects unfortunately never got off the ground, but we spoke with many creators and still have many discussions about what to do in the future.
I’m happy to see players react to SH f, which is a Japanese-style horror game, with even greater interest than I expected. The future of SH will only continue. I think what’s important about the series is that it’s unique, highly artistic and original, and I’d like to continue to focus on that
