Intel is preparing a 14th generation of processors whose characteristics seem very close to the Raptor Lake already marketed.

The news follow and resemble each other for this generation Raptor Lake Refresh which does not seem to be going to advance things so much.

Passionless Raptor Lake Refresh

Of course, it is too early to draw conclusions, but it is clear that the 14th generation of Intel processors – planned not to leave the desktop box “empty” in the fall of 2023 – does not enthuse the crowds.

In the absence of official news from Intel, we are forced to content ourselves with rumors evoking the technical characteristics of said processors and their reading logically explains the lack of enthusiasm of users for this “half-new”.

The latest processor does not seem to create more originality within this Raptor Lake Refresh range which does not refresh much.

Compliant copy of the Core i5-13400?

Indeed, the Core i5-14400 was recently mentioned by a new leak which contradicts previous hypotheses. A few weeks ago, there was talk of embedding 14 cores in a processor which would then have been a little different from the Core i5-13400.

Alas, the last noise in the hallway rather evokes a combination of 10 cores in 6 efficient + 4 efficient for a total of 16 threads… exactly like the Core i5-13400 therefore. Of course, it remains to know the operating frequencies of this newcomer, but the latest information about the Raptor Lake Refresh suggests that at best, the boost frequency would be increased by 200 MHz.

Everything therefore suggests that only the Core i7-14700/14700K bring any novelty compared to the 13th generation and unless there is an aggressive price positioning, it is hard to see Intel imposing a generation that gives more and more the impression of being just a stopgap.
