Everything is not always rosy in the world of video games, and we have unfortunately just learned some bad news regarding Cities Skylines 2.
Cities Skylines 2 is undoubtedly the most anticipated management game of the moment. For several months, he has had good news. Hardly a week goes by without learning about the addition of a new game mechanic or a much-hoped-for modification. Unfortunately, the news this time is rather disappointing.
Cities Skylines 2 gets some bad news
After getting used to encouraging news, the companies Colossal Order and Paradox announced a postponement of the release of Cities Skylines 2 on console. The PS5 and Xbox Series set for the console versions of the game. Thus, the release of Cities Skylines 2 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is now scheduled for spring 2024, although no specific date was given. Note also that Cities: Skylines 2 will be available on Game Pass from day one for the Xbox Series X/S version.
The publisher also specified, in an FAQ published following the announcement of the delay, that console pre-orders would be automatically refunded, with players not having to take any action to obtain this refund. However, it is reassuring to note that the PC version of the game is not affected by this postponement and is still scheduled for October 24, 2023. Enough to overshadow Sim City and make us forget the masterpiece what is Cities Skylines 1. At least, that’s what we hope.
A great development
Cities Skylines 2’s gameplay is billed as an evolution of the original title, calling itself “the most realistic city building simulator yet.” The game promises to be larger (with more tiles), deeper with better management of traffic and trade, and more complete. We know in particular that the title will integrate numerous mechanics on natural disasters and winter management, from the DLC of the first episode. Quite interesting, isn’t it? In fact, all the good mechanics are back and the Colossal studio does not seem to have played the trick to sneak in old tools via DLC. It’s quite appreciable.
