a disappointment for the solidarity component of the LDDS

Since 1er October 2020, it is possible to make a donation to an association directly from its Sustainable and Solidarity Development Booklet (LDDS). But, from theory to practice, there is a step that savers have not yet taken: only 2,550 donations were made through this means in 2022, for a total of 1.2 million euros, so that the Banque de France counts 24.8 million LDDS holders for a total outstanding amount of 145 billion euros. A figure down compared to the previous year, when 2,800 donations were made for 1.5 million euros.

“It’s a disappointment. We managed to convince the government to put this system in place two years ago, even though the banking profession was rather opposed to it for reasons relating to the IT organization, deplores Patrick Sapy, the general director of the FAIR association, which manages the Finansol label. Today, it does not promote it enough and it therefore remains marginal. We are going to meet again with the French Banking Federation to improve the system. »

Amount taken from capital

Unlike sharebooks, which allow you to give a fraction of the interest received, this time you give the sum of your choice, taken from your capital, to an association selected from the list proposed by the bank, comprising at least ten structures. Banks suggest associations working in all areas such as housing (Habitat and Humanism, Terre de liens), solidarity (Action Against Hunger, Secours populaire, Unicef), the environment (France Nature Environnement), medical research ( Gustave-Roussy Institute, Pasteur Institute), etc. This donation entitles you to a tax reduction under the same conditions as a direct donation from your current account, but certain associations make the sending of the tax receipt conditional on a minimum payment of 10 euros.

Please note that Crédit Coopératif, La Banque Postale, MAIF and SG offer a sharing option on their regulated savings accounts (Livret A, LDDS, Livret Jeune, etc.), as exists with solidarity savings accounts. In this case, the client pays a fraction of his interest (and no longer his capital) to an association. At SG, the solidarity savings service allows you to donate 25% to 100% of interest to one, two, or even three associations among the thirty-eight offered. Customers thus paid 645,000 euros in 2022, after 280,000 euros in 2021. An amount up sharply thanks to the significant rise in the yield of the Livret A and the LDDS, up from 0.50% throughout 2021 at 1% then 2% during the year 2022. The year 2023 promises to be even more favorable since the yield has stood at 3% since 1er FEBRUARY. Good news for the beneficiary associations.
