a disaster until the end, this time it’s all over!

The Day Before is already dead. It’s not a joke this time, the studio has just made a shocking announcement that no one saw coming. The players are angry.

The Day Before will have made us laugh, or not, it depends. After generating totally crazy hype when it was announced, the so-called survival MMO game, often compared to The Division or The Last of Us for its atmosphere, quickly lost its luster. The Fntastic studio then started pedaling in the sauerkraut as they say. Bad publicity, very strange management of the studio including volunteer work and then problems with the rights concerning the name of the game… a real circus.

The Day Before the game we will never understand anything about

And the act lasted for quite a while. The reports followed one another, as did the trailers, revealing a game that was ultimately leaner than announced. Players quickly called it a scam, even thinking that the game simply didn’t exist. The studio then rushed to prove the opposite with great support, once again, of gameplay. It never really convinced the public and mockery flew in all directions. We know that the Internet is a jungle, even a zoo sometimes. Suffice to say that the studio was very expensive.

Finally, the big day arrived less than a week ago. And then it’s a cold shower. The Day Before is clearly not up to par. Empty map, lack of content, technically not up to standard, disappointing gameplay… nothing, or almost nothing, seems to hold up in the eyes of players. Faced with these disastrous returns and the obvious lack of enthusiasm for the release of what has long been THE most anticipated game on Steam (yes, yes the wish list figures even spoke of uex at one time), the studio took a huge wall. A wall visibly impossible to overcome since, against all expectations, Fntastic announced the outright closure of the company.

Today we announce the closure of the Fntastic studio. Unfortunately, The Day Before failed financially and we lacked the funds to continue. All income received is used to repay debts to our partners.

Everything is already finished for the game, the studio is closing its doors

Yes, you read correctly, the Fntastic studio no longer exists. The problem is that The Day Before was released recently, there are some brave people still roaming the servers, but at first glance, it’s the end. The developers claim that the servers will remain active for a while, without really going into details. They don’t know what the game will become, or even Propnight for that matter, a sort of Dead by Daylight where survivors could take the appearance of objects in the setting to hide. We don’t know and the studio press release doesn’t tell us more.

Created in 2015, the studio has designed a few games like Dead Dozen, a multiplayer horror game, or Radiant One, a small narrative game. Then Propnight which rode the trend of “prop games” and finally, The Day Before whose development lasted 5 years according to the studio. It’s not nothing. Studio executives say they are saddened and clearly have no choice. Sad news therefore although we do not know what will become of the employees and collaborators. On the players’ side, it seems useless to hope for any reimbursement. Strangely, the game is still available for purchase on Steam. In short, it’s once again quite vague and totally surreal. On Discord and on social networks, it’s already a deluge. Obviously, despite the disappointment and regardless of the behavior of the developers, harassment is absolutely not justified or justifiable for that matter.
