Nominated in two César categories: Best First Film and Best Visual Effects, Vermines is the filmmaker’s first feature film and has already racked up 259,269 admissions in French cinemas.
Before its release, the feature film, which depicts an invasion of spiders in a building in the Paris suburbs, toured festivals, and was notably presented as a world premiere at the end of Critics’ Week. the Venice Film Festival. This allowed Sébastien Vaniček’s first feature film to be reviewed in the international press.
The young director quickly signed a contract with the American agency CAA and has just won his first contract in the United States, as announced on the site Deadline. He will co-write and direct a new spin-off of the Evil Dead franchise for the company Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, Ghost House Pictures. Plot details of the film are not yet known.
Similarities between Vermin and Evil Dead Rise
This film follows Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, released in theaters last April. Bruce Campbellthe interpreter of Ash in Sam Raimi’s franchise, and producer of the latest installments alongside Raimi, declared at The AV Club in April that the studio was going to extend the universe of the saga begun in 1981 and was planning sequels.
