a highly popular exclusive game is killed, the end of an era

A great PS4/PS5 exclusive has just been killed by Sony. It’s all over and for many players, it’s the end of an era.

Time never does things well for players. Every year, many games see all their services killed by publishers and developers. Generally, these are for obviously economic reasons, the maintenance of each online service has a cost, and when the games are too old or literally abandoned by a large majority of players, it is time to say goodbye to them. But in the case of this PS4 and PS5 exclusivity, the reason is completely different.

The PS4 and PS5 lose a popular exclusive game

In January 2024, the PS4 exclusive, obviously playable on PS5, Little Big Planet 3 saw all its online services suspended following a technical problem. Details are lacking, but the fact is that it has no longer been possible to use the game’s online services. No more sharing, no possibility of downloading content, nothing.

For months, we have had no news, until today and unfortunately it is not good at all. Little Big Planet isn’t coming back anytime soon, certainly never. The game is still in trouble and obviously nothing will bring it back to life. Sony has just announced that its game has been permanently disconnected and that it will not return. Therefore, all content created and saved online is now lost, it will no longer be possible to use online features and some trophies will therefore be impossible to obtain.

However, playing offline will remain possible, as will creating levels and using them locally. The campaign will also still be playable obviously. But that’s about it, for the rest, it’s well and truly over.

There are many reactions on the web. Little Big Planet 3 remained a PS4 and PS5 game particularly appreciated by players and still active before it suffered its technical problems. Now orphaned, it is the end of an era for many of them. We’re still talking about almost ten years of content here, that’s not nothing. But Sackboy has not yet said his last word since the little character is still featured in Sackboy A Big Adventure available on PS4, PS5 and PC.
