There are announcements like that that you don’t see coming, especially on a public holiday. Warner Bros. has just announced a brand new Batman Arkham which promises to be more than immersive.
The Batman universe and video games have been complicated lately. Gotham Knights, which featured Bruce Wayne’s foals, was not the cooperative experience that many players would have wanted. Its hints of an aborted service game were too evident, and the famous Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League, which took on its role as such, had a complicated launch to say the least. A few months after its release, Rocksteady’s latest game is almost deserted, managing to do worse than Marvel’s Avengers in its time.
Players want the return of purely single-player games in the Batman Arkham continuity. Warner Bros wants the opposite and wants to put the turbo on live-service, when James Gunn wants to unify the new DCU and video games. In summary, the next few years look, on paper, complicated for the Dark Knight. This does not mean, however, that the Batman Arkham license is dead, quite the contrary.
New Batman Arkham game announced
This is the big surprise of this 1er may. Apparently, Warner Bros. Games has just announced a brand new Batman Arkham. Too good to be true ? You have a sense. Not everyone will be able to get a ticket for Gotham City: it will be a full-fledged VR game exclusive to Meta Quest 3. Sorry for those who invested in a PSVR 2, but never say never as they say. This new episode, visibly official in the universe of the license, is headed by Camouflaj, to whom we owe Iron Man VR.
Few details about this Batman Arkham Shadow are known at the moment, Oculus Studios having for the moment been content with a simple description. “ Gotham is in danger. And you are the only one who can save her”, we can read in the official press release. We’ll have to be content with that for the moment, and a very short teaser which, let’s admit it, still has its little effect. For a Batman Arkham solo and on consoles, you will have to go back for the moment. For those who liked the VR experience, the studio is looking forward to seeing you at Summer Game Fest 2024. The release of Batman Arkham Shadow is scheduled for the end of the year.
