Here comes a new challenger in the ultra-competitive market of… ultrabooks
, with an original concept to say the least.
Responding to the sweet name of Craob, this new manufacturer offers the soberly called “X”, which is the very first ultra-thin laptop completely devoid of cables and connectors.
Craob gives up on cables and connectors
Before we talk about what the product has under the hood, it’s worth looking at the elephant in the room – if you can call this laptop just 7mm thick that way. The Craob X is therefore the very first device in its class to have absolutely no ports, sockets or slots for memory cards.
A choice as original as it is judicious, given the very thin design which would have made it impossible to accommodate such a connection. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible to plug anything into it, though.
All this will indeed be replaced by a wireless magnetic charger that can be attached to the edge of the device. It will have many options such as USB-C, USB-A, Thunderbolt ports, an SD card slot and a jack.
Who says absence of connectivity obviously says absence of Ethernet. Fortunately, the Craob X will be able to count on state-of-the-art wireless technology, which will notably allow you to take advantage of the charger included with the product: Wi-Fi 6E.
Fine but strong
In addition to its original design, the Craob X hides solid hardware under its ultra-thin case. As a processor, it can indeed count on the Intel Core i7-1280P Alder Lake, the 12th generation laptop from the Blue Team, displaying no less than 14 cores.
On the RAM side, it can count on 32 GB LPDDR5. Finally, it will offer an M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD with a solid 2TB storage capacity.
A rather impressive technical sheet which will allow you to take full advantage of its 13.3 “panel displaying a 4K definition without borders, crowned with a webcam directly integrated into the screen.
However, Craob has not yet announced a release date or price for its product as fine as it is original. We bet, however, given the concept and the technical sheet, that the price will be anything but fine.
