LG has launched a particularly atypical device in its home market. Called LG StanbyME Go, the latter consists of a 27-inch adjustable touch screen, housed in a sound carrying case.

LG could well take the concept of a portable monitor into another dimension. In Korea, the manufacturer has indeed announced its LG StanbyME Go, a new device in the form of a large touch screen installed in a small carrying case. This amazing device isn’t a first for LG, however…at least not quite. Last year, at CES, the firm had indeed unveiled a first version of this product, equipped at the time with a simple foot, recalls GizmoChina.

A large touch screen everywhere with you

The StandbyME Go is built around a 27-inch Full HD touch screen, Dolby Vision certified. It can be oriented vertically or horizontally, but also tilted and adjusted in height (up to 18 cm), using an arm attached to the carrying case. The latter acts as a support once opened. The device can also be used flat, so as to be used by two people to play board games, for example.

The transport case is for its part soundproofed in 20 W and has a Dolby Atmos certification for a rather qualitative audio rendering, at least on paper. At the back of this 67 x 43 x 11.9 cm briefcase for 12.7 kg in all (yes, yes, anyway!), there are finally USB and HDMI connectors hidden by covers. As for connectivity, we are limited to Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.

A new product not given…

To operate outdoors, or away from an electrical outlet, the StandbyME Go incorporates a battery that will allow autonomy of 3 hours according to LG. What limits the uses quite a bit. The power cable therefore remains essential and has been designed to be stored (in the company of a remote control) in a location inside the case.

In terms of software, finally, the whole is powered by webOS. The device is also compatible with voice commands and supports AirPlay to display content from Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.). There remains the question of the price… and on this side LG is aiming high with a price slightly exceeding 880 dollars.
