A long four-burner induction hob from Klarstein

Induction hobs with four hearths, there are lots of them. Among these, models that are only 35 cm deep are much rarer. This is however the case with the Klarstein Delicatessa 90 Slim.

How the pricing table works

Built-in appliances often impose size standards, and that is why ovens, for example, measure approximately 60 cm high by 60 cm wide and 55 cm deep. Induction hobs are subject to similar constraints, it is generally necessary to provide a space of 60 cm long by 50 cm deep to install them. Nevertheless, manufacturers offer larger plates, 90 cm x 50 cm for islands, in particular, or kitchens with very large worktops.

The Klarstein Delicatessa 90 Slim also measures 90 cm, like the very exclusive Miele KM 7999 FR. Nevertheless, it does not exceed 35 cm in depth. Consequently, the four inductors with which it is equipped are placed next to each other, and not in a square. This makes it possible to integrate it into a very narrow worktop or to equip the latter with a retractable extractor hood, a strong trend in the kitchen world.

Nevertheless, this original shape does not prevent the Klarstein Delicatessa 90 Slim from developing a total power of 7000 W, comparable to that of many models that we have already tested: 1500 for the first focus on the far left, 2000 for the second, 1500 for the third and finally 2000 for the last completely on the right. Each of them can be set to one of nine power levels, although finicky chefs will prefer a plate with more notches to adjust the temperature with more precision. However, this should be more than enough for everyday use. As is already the case for the overwhelming majority of other models, a “boost” mode is provided to temporarily increase the power of the inductor in order to raise the temperature as quickly as possible. Perfect for boiling pasta water.

The Klarstein Delicatessa 90 Slim benefits from a pair of twin burners. By pressing a button, two inductors combine to form a single large cooking zone, capable of accommodating large or atypically shaped utensils such as a fishmonger. Whereas, on the “square” plates, it is generally the two right front and right rear or left front and left rear inductors which are concerned, here it is the center pair of lights which has this functionality.

Despite unusual dimensions, which could therefore be of interest to owners of kitchens with original architecture, there is nothing very innovative about the Klarstein Delicatessa 90 Slim hob. This probably explains why it can be found for around €450.
