a lot of free content that completely changes the fights

Once again and even years later, Skyrim continues to fascinate players. Proof of this is this massive content which changes a lot of things.

Almost thirteen years after its release, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda continues to captivate players thanks to its rich and above all immersive universe. However, while the atmosphere and skill-based progression system remain impressive, the combat system has aged somewhat. It is in this context that modder JaySerpa intervenes, who offers a mod aimed at revitalizing combat in Skyrim. This is THE good idea.

Skyrim with 2024 sauce?

As reported by pcgamesn, this new mod, titled Stress and Fear, enriches the combat experience by introducing two new status conditions affecting characters: stress and fear. It’s like Port-Salut, it’s marked on it. These states modify gameplay by adding handicaps, or debuffs, which influence how players must manage their character.

The stress system aims to encourage players to take breaks between battles and engage in other in-game activities. When a character is affected by stress, their magic and stamina levels decrease. To regain these abilities, the player must participate in relaxing activities such as fishing, petting a dog, having a drink, eating a hot meal, sleeping, or spending time at an inn in Skyrim. This system encourages players to diversify their activities and take more advantage of the atmosphere of the game. A rich idea, we must admit.

Furthermore, the fear system introduces a deeper psychological dimension. For example, if a player endures a particularly difficult fight and nearly gets killed, they may develop a phobia against the opponent in question. This results in a 25% reduction in damage dealt to that specific enemy and a restricted field of view when fighting against it. To overcome this phobia, the player must face and defeat the feared enemy, which will permanently increase damage dealt by 10% against that enemy type.
